Leysstraat

Between 1898 and 1904, Leysstraat was widened and renovated on the basis of a new total concept. The street must become a grandiose witness to Antwerp’s prosperity in that period and it must become the landmark between Central Station and Meir.

Both buildings on the right-hand photo, which date from after 1904, mark the entrance to the newly constructed street and, further on, the Meir.
